Description

This tool helps select an inverter with sufficient capacity to power your AC loads. It considers both the continuous load (appliances running constantly) and the surge load (the initial power draw of motors).

Design Principles

1. Continuous Load: The inverter's continuous watt rating must be higher than the sum of all simultaneously running AC loads. 2. Surge (Peak) Load: The inverter's surge rating must be able to handle the highest starting power requirement of any single appliance, which can be 2-3 times its running wattage. 3. Future Proofing: It's often wise to select an inverter with 20-25% more capacity than your calculated need to accommodate future additions.
